Reflective Narrative4.1) The classes I took to fulfill this MLO were JAPN 403, JAPN 404, and WLC 400. In JAPN 403 I was introduced to the concept of a capstone project. In this class I formulated the beginning of what would eventually become my final graduation presentation. We would have guest speakers who would talk about effective research methods, take trips to the library to learn how to effectively browse the database. and how we could use this information to complete our capstone. Through this new information I was able to access the EBSCO database and choose my capstone topic, "Perceptions of Nuclear Energy Among University Students". By applying the research methods I learned in this class I was able to find the information necessary to start my capstone research project. 4.2) JAPN 404 was the class that put an emphasis on Japanese related to our research topic. This class was created specifically to help students develop and present their capstone in Japanese. Every class period would be spent going over academic Japanese that should be used in a research presentation and practicing our presentations in Japanese. Having chosen a topic with very difficult phrases, I found this class to be invaluable to helping me acquire a scholarly level of Japanese in order to better present and understand the articles I would be referencing in my research. 4.3) WLC 400 is a class where we used a wide variety of technological sources in order to complete our capstone. It was during this class that we finalize our Google Forms survey and put the finishing touches on our graduation portfolios. Additionally, it was in this class that I was able to learn how to effectively use Microsoft Excel to format all the data quickly and efficiently, which would help me later when I learned how to turn this formatted data into charts for my PowerPoint. In he final stages of the class we used Word to write our final papers in both Japanese and English and learned to format it in order to create an academic paper. *For further evidence of my capstone project, please click here |
