Reflective Narrative
JAPN 404 is a continuation of our capstone class and is a class specifically for Japanese Language and Culture majors at CSUMB. This course also helps meet the MLO 4 requirement for research and technology by continuing research into our chosen topic. Each week we would learn academic Japanese in order to assist us with writing our Japanese power point presentation, and refine our technological skills by using Google Forms, Microsoft Power Point, Weebly, and Excel worksheets. We were further able to refine our presentation skills by being able to practice presenting our research and data.
This course also helped in other areas as well. The course was taught entirely in Japanese which helped fulfill my MLO 1 requirement for language and communication. Furthermore, we were required to translate our English power point into Japanese for our capstone presentation. Although it proved to be difficult and time consuming, it was a very rewarding experience to look at the finial, finished product of our efforts. Throughout the course I was able to learn a great deal about effective research methods, translation, and proper time management. Although the course was very challenging, I have no doubt that it prepared me well for my capstone presentation and well into the future as I continue to refine my skills both as a student.
